Have you ever thought about joining your local emergency services team, but didn’t know if it was right for you?

The Whitehouse Rescue Squad offers a ride along program that provides citizens the opportunity to learn what a typical day in the life of an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) is all about. This program encourages community involvement in the rescue squad, opens lines of communications between the Squad and citizens, and educates the public in the duties of the EMTs. The program is designed to allow citizens the opportunity to accompany the ambulance crew during their tour of duty and gives a better understanding of what it entails to be an Emergency Responder.

Anyone above the age of 16 is eligible to apply for the program. If you’re interested in seeing what we are about, please email us at [email protected] or call 908-534-2509 and ask to speak with our membership team.

Categories of Membership

Whether you want to be part of the action on emergency calls, or help out behind the scenes, we have classes of membership that will suit you. Submit an application, and our membership team will contact you. We offer two main categories of Membership within our organization: Responder and Non-Responder.

Responder

These members are front line emergency responders. We offer several different Responder categories based on your qualifications and level of commitment. We provide training, uniforms, and equipment.

Standard Membership –Standard members respond to emergency incidents. Standard members pursue and maintain NJ EMT certification.

Rescue Membership -Rescue members focus on our Rescue Services Division, which includes training in technical rescue disciplines such as vehicle extrication and water rescue. EMTs are welcome as rescue members, but it is not a requirement.

Junior Membership (16-18 years of age)– Junior members respond to emergency incidents under direct supervision of senior members and may pursue EMT certification.

Associate Membership – Members in this category are EMT’s and/or Rescue proficient members from the local business community that do not wish to participate at the commitment level of a standard member.

Paid/Career Membership – Contact the Deputy Chief if you are qualified and wish to apply for a paid EMT position.

Non-Responder
Non-Responder members do not respond to emergency incidents, but play an important role behind the scenes.

Supportive Membership -Supportive members do not respond to emergency incidents, but do play a vital role in the organization by assisting with crucial roles behind the scenes such as fundraising, community events, office work, etc.
